No Politics

This is my new dishwasher...

Our dishwasher finally got the boot as it was only working when it felt like it.  I couldn't bear the suspense anymore.  It was three years old, a fairly expensive model and had already been repaired once under its two year guarantee.  Nothing is built to last very long these days no matter how much you pay.

The television is also on the blink.  It's over ten years old so I guess that's excusable.
 .................

We went for our daily cycle ride this morning.  I wanted to follow some new cycle route signs that have sprung up recently.

"Not a good idea."
"Why not?"
"We don't know where the route goes."
"We follow the signs - that's part of the fun, a magical mystery tour."
"You don't know how far the route is, it might be eighty kilometres or more."
"Is that a no then?"
"And serious cyclists love really steep hills."
"That's a no then."

  1. Our washing-up machine has a wilful spirit; it only does things that it wants to do. I won't go near it.

  2. Deepest condolences, Sue ! We had a similar thing happen after three years with our Bosch "all singing all dancing" dishwasher. We asked for something simple when we replaced it, and so far (fingers very tightly crossed) it's been OK, as it's either off or on, and apart from a water economy button, it just washes !

    1. We've got a cheap, bog standard model on order as a replacement.

  3. I'm just wondering if we [no, I] should get one. It would mean sacrificing three full useful drawers in the kitchen, and I love using them when we are on holiday. They do appear to have their problems though.

  5. 3 years isn't very long for dishwasher. However, perhaps mine own gets low usage because Peter washes up every night because he enjoys it and considers it his job. Peter also uses the Israeli system. I always thought it was just a male thing, like the way boys wash up.

    1. I've never heard of the Israeli system before. Paul just chucks things on the floor.

  6. I have a dishwasher but I always hand wash. I also do the 'Isreali system' that Yeal mentions, which I think is; hand-wash, hand-rinse one by one under running water and hand-dry the dishes.
