Portrait

Yesterday morning the postman delivered a mysterious package all the way from Australia.  I was totally thrilled and surprised when I opened it up to find a beautiful drawing of Rick; I had not realised my daughter had such artistic skill.  She has captured him perfectly.

Rick and Bunny

The drawing is all the more poignant due to the fact that Sarah’s dog, Buddy, died back in December.  She doesn’t feel ready yet to attempt Buddy’s portrait but when she does it will be a wonderful tribute to a special dog, he stole the hearts of everyone he met.

  1. What an excellent artist Sarah is, and a wonderful portrait of Rick - it looks so much like him.
So sorry to hear she has lost Buddy - having been through the loss of beloved pets, I know how she must be feeling.

  2. And here's me writing about my dog today too - great minds and all that ... Lovely picture; clever artist - it' nicely positioned on the paper too, something often overlooked.

    1. I really didn't know she had such talent, not something she has done until recently.

  3. Great portrait. Sarah got him just right. Sarah must take after mum with her drawing talent. Dogs are not easy.

    1. I couldn't do that sort of detailed drawing, I just don't have the patience.

  8. A very accomplished artist! I know you will treasure it not just because it is your lovely dog but also because of who the artist is.

  10. Beautiful drawing. I do occasionally attempt to draw the dogs 'from life'. It's not easy, but developing ways of getting them to sit still is fun.

    1. Dogs do not make good life models! Even when he's asleep Rick has usually got his head hidden under something.

  11. What a beautiful drawing. I would love to have a talent like that. Sorry to hear that Sarah lost her beloved dog recently. I still grieve for my first dog who we lost over 7 years ago, in spite of the last 7 lovely years spent with our schnauzer!
