A Load of Rubbish

Yesterday morning Paul and I donned hats, boots and gloves and joined a few other community minded volunteers to collect litter in the town centre.  It was all part of the Great British Spring Clean.

After about an hour, with rain clouds looming, an aching back and a disintegrated litter picker stick I’d had enough.  But in that single hour we had all filled over a dozen black bags with rubbish.  Most of the rubbish was discarded drinks cans, bottles and fast food cartons.

It was nice to join like minded people and do something positive for the local environment, just a shame that there is so much litter about in the first place.

  2. Good for you. I remember as a kid, people just rolled (yes rolled) down their car windows and chucked garbage out as they drove. I wouldn't even consider doing something like that now. -Jenn

  3. I do much the same around here (once or twice a year). It amazes me that people can throw drinks cans or plastic bottles from their cars. I'd love to catch one!
