More Adventures with Buddy

Rainbow Lorikeet

We’ve had a lazy day today.  Blue sky and sunshine cannot be ignored so we walked down to Cremorne Point armed with our picnic rug and kindles.  We found a nice grassy patch overlooking the cove and Buddy was more than happy to join us on the rug and watch the boats bobbing around on the water.   The Rainbow Lorikeets swooped about and chattered as they feasted on the bottlebrush trees.

We stretched out and I looped Buddy’s lead around my ankle, he wasn’t going anywhere without me.  He was surprisingly well behaved, not giving the joggers a second glance.  All was well until an elaborately coiffed poodle with pom poms came mincing along the pathway.  I didn’t notice the dog approaching and suddenly my leg almost snapped in half.  Luckily Paul saved the day and managed to grab Buddy before he dragged me along the ground in pursuit of the poodle.

Never a dull moment.

  1. We have a small bottlebrush bush but that Lorikeet is super! I shall have to buy a stuffed bird (felt, not really stuffed) to show it off next year.
    Those poodles can certainly mince.

  2. I saw a small bottlebrush tree last weekend on a day trip to the sea; I did not know they also grow in the northern part of Italy. I took a couple of pictures of it; it is a very pretty tree.

  3. He's a lovely looking dog. I think it's those same pesky Lorikeets that eat all my daughter's Mangoes.

  5. Oh yes. Gotta love a dog with its own mind when attached. I've got an elasticated lead now.

    1. I'm not sure how that works - the rebound could be disastrous!

  6. I had a job once as an aviary keeper, hand raising baby lorikeets and giving school tours of the aviary. They're such comical, endearing little parrots!
