Solace and Kebabs

After a few days of feeling under the weather and feeling a bit depressed and sad about the world it was nice to venture outside in the sunshine today and find some solace in my garden.

I was delighted to see that the blueberries have started to ripen; I have put some netting over them to keep the birds away.

A heron flew overhead but I was too slow with the camera.

The peaches are also getting a nice colour although a bit on the small side.

With an abundance of courgettes, cucumbers and cherry tomatoes I decided to make kebabs for supper.  I grated a cucumber and mixed it with some yoghurt, olive oil and garlic to make the tzatziki sauce.  Then I whizzed up some harissa paste (I didn’t have any fresh chilli so I substituted that with chilli flakes and tomato) and added some pork to marinate.  All that’s left to do is assemble the pork, cherry tomatoes and courgette onto skewers and grill for about ten minutes.

Lunch outside on the terrace felt very convivial today with the new blue tooth speaker playing some cafe jazz in the background.  Then it was time for my playlist.  Pharrell Williams’ Happy followed by LakmĂ©'s Flower Duet.  I need to work on it.

    1. It was a good meal, especially as Paul had to clear up afterwards.

    1. I think my favourite part was the cherry tomatoes, so sweet and tasty.

  3. My blueberries still have a way to go yet, always a treat when they do ripen. The photo of the sky made me laugh - so hard to capture birds as they fly by. I was wondering what café jazz is?

    1. Hi Elaine! Cafe jazz is just background instrumental jazz courtesy of Spotify.
