Next time you're this way let me know.
We know Coulliere and that area of France well - it's one of our favourites. Last time we stayed at Les Elmes which a small beach on the other side of Banyuls. It's an area we always stay in when we take the dogs with us as is less than a day's drive from here. The Costa Brava is very pretty too, and well worth exploring at some time. Glad you liked this area, it's not all like Benidorm, though we all feel that Calpe is trying hard to compete !Coppa's girlhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16459503600694841117noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5472301814571448308.post-59812392969460457492017-03-26T17:26:59.794+01:002017-03-26T17:26:59.794+01:00Looks very much as I imagine Spain, the Sierra Nev...Looks very much as I imagine Spain, the Sierra Nevada.Rachel Phillipshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16053924416805878169noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5472301814571448308.post-38030684229744078222017-03-26T16:40:51.780+01:002017-03-26T16:40:51.780+01:00Well fancy that! We've been staying at the Hotel Bahia (next door to the Sol y Mar) with fantastic views of the bay. Very impressed with Calpe and this area, it's very pretty and not too busy at this time of year.Suehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10787732343048847565noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5472301814571448308.post-59993663609412579062017-03-26T10:54:32.127+01:002017-03-26T10:54:32.127+01:00Good heavens Sue - we live in the foothills behind...Good heavens Sue - we live in the foothills behind Calpe - it's our nearest metropolis ! A place where I meet up with my friends for breakfast or lunch - out of season.
Are you staying at the Sol y Mar? You can walk along the paseo, past the harbour to La Fossa beach, on the other side of the PeƱon (Rock). It is usually much more sheltered, but sadly, over developed. You will see the occasional swimmer even now, as the water can be several degrees warmer.
If you feel like a run in the car, take the twisty coast road (it's a bit hairy in places) to Moraira, and then on to El Portet which is a pretty little place, and about as unspoiled as it gets hereabouts these days. If you go inland, have a look at the Jalon Valley. There's a road with fantastic views, from beside the petrol station in Jalon town, back over the hills, down onto the main road (N332)and back into Calpe.Coppa's girlhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16459503600694841117noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5472301814571448308.post-10249320016669689352017-03-26T08:55:50.566+01:002017-03-26T08:55:50.566+01:00Blue skies but very windy.
