Beware of the Dog

The responsibility of looking after my daughter’s beloved dog weighs heavily.  He is the cutest guy ever but can be quite a handful to manage.  Buddy is allowed to sleep in his own bed in our bedroom but he’s not allowed onto our bed. This morning I woke up to find myself gazing at his furry face next to mine on my pillow. Well it’s been a long time since I shared my bed with two males.

Sarah warned me that he doesn’t like cyclists, joggers and people in high-viz jackets.  She forgot to mention the motor bikes and noisy lorries.  This morning he decided to add Chinese men to the list. He’s very good with other dogs when he’s off the leash but otherwise he will try to eat them too.

After breakfast we took him to Sirius Cove where dogs are allowed to run free.  It is clearly a favourite venue of the professional doggy daycare people. I have never seen so many dog vans parked up in my life, Paws Galore, Mad Paws, Hairy Poppins, Pitter Patter Paws, Salty Dawg.  No wonder there are so many designer dogs running on the beach.  Buddy manfully tried to keep up with the big dogs streaking across the cove but he just couldn’t keep up with his little legs.

Right now he’s having his afternoon nap.  I’m just wondering where I can take him for his evening walk where we won’t encounter any cyclists and joggers.

  1. Our Bok doesn't care for Quad Bikes, or any other motorised bikes; good for him!

  2. I wonder what Buddy would write if he had a blog of his own.

    1. Woof woof. Pronounced with an upward inflection at the end of the second woof as he is an Australian dog.

  3. I think it's small dog syndrome - they have to show the world who's boss.

    1. He certainly fell on his paws when Sarah and Andy adopted him. It's a long way to come and dog sit though.

  5. My Dog is unsure of the same things plus noisy trailers. He is terrified of fireworks and thunder & lightening.
Sirius Cove sounds like fun and a great name for a dog friendly beach!

  6. It's a dog life! I'd be more worried if you were chasing cyclists, joggers and people in high-viz jackets! ;)

  7. Please blog about past occasions when you woke up in a bed with two males Sue. Intriguing.

As for Buddy's evening exercise, I should take him for a long walk on a short pier.

    1. There's nothing like a bit of intrigue but all I will say it was San Francisco 1979. As for the short pier, that could be problematic as I am on the other end of Buddy's lead.

  8. Oh wow--that is quite a challenge! Sounds like it's never dull, though. We're watching my mom's dog this weekend and it's always interesting to double our dogs for a few days. They have so much fun together, but I don't dare take them for walks. They get into enough trouble in our fenced back yard!
