L'Elevateur d'Eau

Today Paul and I ventured out into the sunny but freezing cold morning for our daily cycle ride.  We rode into the woods and then through Labastide, a small hamlet of just three dwellings.

As we approached the edge of the hamlet we could see a crude iron cross perched on top of a piece of old farm machinery at the side of a field.  Closer inspection of the machinery revealed it to be an old well pump, a state of the art piece of kit at the turn of the 20th century.

  1. I'm here!

Did you kneel and say prayers before realising it was a pump, and checking that nobody had seen you?

    1. How did you guess? I'm still trying to figure out whether the cross has some special religious significance or not. Maybe someone fell down the well.
